I thought this could be a winner too...but then there is so much that goes into making coffee like Tasimo does...that it would be unworkable.

And this request has gone on for years as well. Its such a win win option. Those who would like to purchase an option like this would buy, and those who don't want it, don't have to. In the meantime Kraft would stand to make quite a bit of money by developing this option. It would actually help many to decide to purchase a Tassimo. More Tassimos sold means, means more drink T-discs would be sold.

Tassimo may be missing a golden opportunity here. While T Discs are become rare in some markets, Tassimo can sell the reuseable T Disc holders with varying boldness (separate bar codes that match brew system specs). This way each consumer can select what is best match for their grind and roast of coffee. Some provision could also be made for adding flavors and enhancers (vanilla, cinnamon, even Tassimo marketed flavored powders)!
Time has come to win the war on single cup Quality; it is not just about convenience or availability if Tassimo includes the consumer in the solution!

I think that is why we are pitching for slide in bar codes, or preprinted snap on lids. That way we can accomodate different brews ; ) And a Tassimo reuseable disc would surpass the quality of the one size fits all of the keurig my cup.

I agree, Doug. But I still believe that if they produced a one-barcode-fits-all reusable T-disc, what comes out will not be a great cup of anything.

If they made it, I'd buy it. I would try adding things such as powdered cinnamon to the espresso for making caps. Or perhaps blending mint with tea.
Just one thing, many beleive if we did have a self fill disc that we could simply add any ground coffee to the disc. After my fiasco with my last 'bot, I had an up-close perspective of the coffee grounds. The grounds are very small. You would need to grind your coffee very finely.

I'm split on this one. Right now a reusable t-disk sounds good to me. But in general I think the reusable t-disk is only good because of inadequate product selection.
If they would take care of business in the product lineup there would be no need for the reusable disk. I agree that it would also be difficult to brew your chosen coffee as perfectly in the generic t-disk based on the machines specs.

I am in the minority it seems since I probably would not use a reuseable T-disc. I know, be green and all. But I use my Bot because I don't have to deal with ground coffee, and that's the way I like it.
I'm not an engineer, but it seems to me what makes the Bosch design so great (the bar code system) is the same thing that puts up barriers to a reuseable T-disc. The precision with which each coffee, tea or other beverage can be brewed (temp, pressure, amount of water, etc.) is not a one-size-fits-all proposition, like it is with the Keurig brewer. If a "standard" bar-coded reuseable T-disc came out tomorrow, I would be willing to bet a week's pay that most people would find the resulting brew not to their liking, at least not up to our Tassimo standards. (and would complain about HAVING a reuseable T-disc LOL)
Kraft or whoever could come up with a "set" of reuseables with different codes (how many is enough?) but now it's getting into a bigger effort, on the development, production and marketing and sales sides (how much would users pay for such a set of T-discs and what percentage of all users really want them?).
I do think that Kraft needs to investigate this as an opportunity, and maybe they are, but I don't think it's as easy a matter as most of the people asking for it would like.
Also, we have no idea what Kraft has in mind for the future of the Tassimo brand. If they don't plan to enhance the brand going forward, they certainly are not going to develop new hardware accessories.
As always, just my two cents

20 Years??? Wow, that's a testimony in itself ; ) I agree with you in regard to a reuseable disc; many of us do. A reuseable disc would be a nice option for those who would like one. I believe Bosch could design a reuseable disc but rather think they may be restrained by the powers to be. The Bosch BB was manufactured for Tassimo; unfortunately not independently. I don't think Gevalia/Tassimo wants to go that route just yet any way. I'm wondering if as time goes on you will see more and more brands of Gevalia coffees. Only time will tell.

Bosch really did their homework when engineering the T-Discs and the Brew Bots.
Obviously, they didn't leave the door open to make it easy to reverse engineer how the Barcode really works.
With that said, I still don't see any K brewer that gets the quality of the Tassimo even with the Sbux coffee; since the K is just a unintelligent brewer and it doesnt have the quality controls that the BB has.

Nice job Kraft/Gevalia. Kraft should stick to making Mac & Cheese. Let Bosch continue to making a good brewer and allow Tassimo's customers to purchase a choice of coffee.

My Starbucks brand coffee maker is in it's last days, after almost 20 YEARS of faithful service! I find myself in the single-serve coffee maker market again, and Tassimo has risen to the top in my research as the best one on the market. But I'm buying a Keurig. Why? The re-usable basket. Although I plan to buy much of my coffee in pod form, I don't want all of it that way. The lack of ability on the Tassimo to use my own coffee is deal-breaker. I just called Bosh (877-834-7271) and confirmed they still don't have one, although clearly customers have wanted that option for years now. I asked them to pass on that request, maybe if enough people call we might get one?
I've read about people trying different things to make their own re-usable pod, no one seems to have been successful. If anyone has had success please share, otherwise I'm heading to Keurig-land.
