I just discovered Starbucks is leaving when I went to place an order for my wife. My next endeavor has been to findout why and what to do to regarding switch coffee brand or switch to Keurig. I would suggest that Tassimo start sending out free sampler packs to those of us that primarily purchase Starbucks b/c I found my solution http://www.singleservecoffee.com/archives/036486.php

lol.. not really "swill" - but I have a rule about foods and drinks: If I don't like them after taking a test bite/drink I don't finishing eating/drinking them. For the Via, that meant dumping it. I am not going to finish a coffee I don't like just because I already paid for it. I just know not to get it again.

I gave the remaining packs to a friend today and she LOVES them... so it's just all about what you and your palate enjoy.

I bought a couple of packs of VIA when it first came out - I think it was on sale. This is exactly what I used it for, to add some body to the Gevalia Morning Roast I had. However, even for this purpose I wouldn't buy it again - a good dark roast instant or instant epresso is more cost effective than those pricey little tubes :-D

For iced coffee and frozen coffee drinks, I found the BEST coffee extract product which makes the smoothest, most flavorful drink you can imagine. You control the strength by how much you use, and it comes in several flavors, including a dark roast as well as decaf. That said, I hesitate to post the name because I don't know if it's allowed on this forum. Maybe a host can tell me, I'd love to share for anyone who loves iced coffee.

Perhaps a half a tspn of Via will help MH.

Actually, solo I'm not real fond of Vias, but I don't mind & I actually enjoy adding a small amount of via to a good expresso or coffee to get a flavored effect or more quantity. When I use a small amount its quite cost effective to achieve that desired taste and the blend doesn't taste like instant coffee. To me it tastes better to use this as an additive rather than running a T-disc twice for more coffee.

I tried Via for the first time today... and dumped the coffee down the sink. It wasn't HORRID, but it was definitely not something my palate enjoyed.

And I usually LOVE Starbucks coffee.... so I was a very sadpanda.

I'm thinking that the Via might be good for making frozen coffee beverages this summer.

Well, I'm not crazy aout the Via either - and it's expensive for an instant (and that's what it is, doesn't compare to fresh brewed).

With the increasingly limited choices for Tassimo, I very likely will pursue any other single serve system that has good selections and will offer SBux.

Thanks for the info. However I've tasted that Via and I was not too impressed. While it's good for instant, I find that it really can't compare with brewed.

I just may go with SBux espress pods and get an espresso machine.

Thanks Kraft ;)

I'm not completely crazy about Starbucks, but I do like a few of the varieties, and for the sake of having options, I'd hate to see them leave the Tassimo system.

However, with everything that continues to emerge from the Starbucks vs Kraft mess, it starts to look more and more like Sbux wants a MUCH bigger slice of the single-serve market, and will likely at least expand their offerings to Keurig, while also likely creating their own system (as mentioned here).

The hope, of course, if you are a Starbucks fan and Tassimo owner, is that they continue to partner on some level with Kraft and keep on making T-discs. Makes sense, really...the process is already in place. All they have to do is provide the coffee.

Problem is, Kraft seems to not want any "outsiders" making coffee for their system, preferring to have a hand in every aspect of it.

If Starbucks does abandon the Tassimo system completely, I know some folks will go with whatever new offering they have. But, for those who want to keep their Tassimo and still enjoy some Starbucks every now and then, there IS an option.

Most of you have probably seen the Via product produced by Starbucks. I picked some up for a backpacking trip last year, and really thought they were pretty tasty. It is a micro-grind coffee that you mix with 8oz of hot water for an instant Starbucks.

I discovered the leftover packs in our cupboard the other day, and decided to have one. So...I dumped it in my mug, put the Tassimo cleaning disc in my machine, and voila! 7oz of hot water later, I was enjoying a Starbucks Italian roast!

I just thought that it was awfully handy that it calls for 8oz and the cleaning disc tells the machine to produce 7oz of hot water, after which you can put a bit more in if you'd like, or leave it a little on the strong side.

As for variety, they have quite a few offerings, including a caramel, french roast, columbian, and many others. And, on Amazon, you can find them for considerably less than $1/serving (I saw a 50 pack for $35).

I know this may not satisfy everyone, but I was curious if anyone else had tried this out?
