I agree if anything this sounds more like a wiring issue with the outlet, more so then a tassimo machine problem. Or call your local priest.

The manufacturer also recommends to shut it off when not in used. With the switch OFF, no electricity is reaching the motor as it is an open circuit. So, even with kids, or curious pets that may depress the button, still nothing happens.

However, the wrong Voltage may cause all kinds of issues; the most common a short ciruit, blown fuse.

I also recently found out that when the descaling light turn ON, you cannot do anything but use the cleaning disc to descale.

Absolutely, have your wiring checked out. If you leave any appliance plugged in, the appliance is still getting some electricity. I didn't know that. We just got that tip enclosed in our recent NYSEG bill in regard to conserving energy. When we asked an electrician friend about this, he said yes electricity is still reaching the appliance and if your wiring is faulty it could cause an appliance to short-circuit which may cause some weird things to happen.

Both machines???

Something must be pressing that button. You don't happen to have a pet cat or an athletic and overly curious dog?

This is, indeed, an odd story. I've never heard of any kind of machine turning itself on.

Color me skeptical, but even on the tassimo motor will not run without a pod in place. I'm no electrician but an on switch usually opens up a current that is severed when the on switch is off, so it does not seem possible for a machine to turn itsself on. Its the same reason lights dont turn themselves on. Perhaps you forgot to turn it off, but even if thats the case still doesnt account for the motor starting without a pod in place or the button being pressed. You can press the button all you want when the machine is on, and if there is not a pod in it, it doesnt do anything.

You are either the victim of some crazy poltergeist or you need an electrician to come check your wiring, as you have too many volts traveling through your outlets or something. Or your just looking for an excuse to get a refund for your Tassimo machines.

I know one thing if I had a machine catch fire, I wouldnt right away plug another one in.

Hello,
I have used a Tassimo brewer for years. A few weeks ago, we were awoken to the sound of a motor running, with accompanying whistle. Turns out that the brewer had turned itself on and was overheating. There was no disc in, and the disc opening was open. Scared us and when I contacted Tassimo, they had me send it in and said they would replace it.
I happened to have another Tassimo still packed in its box (replacement from a previous defect), so I started using that. This past Wednesday, I was working at home (thank goodness) and heard loud motor, ran downstairs to my kitchen filled up with steam and the machine overheated. Turns out the EXACT SAME THING happened to this machine which was virtually new.
I truly believe both incidents would have caused a fire had I not been home at the time, which was coincidental.
